Welcome to Deer Park

Where are we?
Deer Park is a suburban Chicago community of 3220 people, located approximately 35 miles northwest from downtown Chicago. While you are in the village, take a look around at our beautiful residential subdivisions, enjoy our restaurants and boutique shops, as well as our modern shopping establishments.
Deer Park is suburban living at its best. Continued development provides excellent opportunities for excellent shopping and dining. It is located next to the Cuba Marsh forest preserves, we have many parks and green open spaces. Our residents enjoy living here for a variety of reasons, but we all share a common love of wide-open spaces and the rural lifestyles that open lands allow. One property of historic significance in Deer Park is the Vehe Barn, refurbished on its original farm site and is an Illinois Centennial Farm upon 14 acres of prairie.
Most of the homes are built on one acre lots. The water source for most homes is private well. Lake Michigan water is provided in the triangle along the Rand Road corridor. Deer Park is serviced by the Lake Zurich Fire Protection District which has four stations with full-time fire fighters and paramedics. The police protection is contracted by Lake County Sheriff's Department that make Deer Park a safe place to live and work. Lake County provides us with designated sworn deputies and is synonymous with both high performance protecting all of Deer Park. The Lake County Sheriff Deputies are professionals that serve us in an exemplary manner because of a commitment to the residents and a dedication that goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Government
The Village of Deer Park operates under the Commission Form of government. Under this form, the voters elect at large a President and six trustees who serve as the Village Board. The President serves as Liquor Commissioner. The President appoints the Village Clerk and Village Treasurer, as well as the Village Administrator.
Planning and Zoning
The Plan and Zoning Commission assist the Village Board. The Village takes great pride in its effort to continue to make Deer Park a great place to live by following a comprehensive plan and utilizing strategic planning.
The Village Board actively pursue a high quality of life for its residents and maintain areas of interest for visitors and tourists. In comparison to other suburbs, Deer Park is highly rated in the categories of education, housing, health and safety, economic and cultural diversity, arts and culture, historic interest and preservation. Deer Park is one of the few municipalities in the state that does not assess a property tax.
